Karen began her collegiate career as a four year starter and captain of the University of Wisconsin women’s soccer team. Upon completion of her playing, Karen began what turned out to be a 20 year professional college coaching career.
Starting as an assistant and eventually becoming a head coach, Karen became a respected leader and recruiter at the most elite academic and athletic institutions in the country. She has coached and recruited in conferences across the United States with the Ivy League (Yale), Pac 10 (Washington), Atlantic 10 (Rhode Island), Big Ten (Wisconsin), and Division III MIAC (Carleton College).
As a college recruiter Coach Parker Aberman understood that while academic and physical skills are certainly important, the ability to further develop and utilize those skills are another matter. Talent evaluation and performing up to one’s potential is a matter of both physical and academic ability as well as a person’s emotional intelligence. She looks for how well one handles their thoughts and emotions, their ability to handle adversity, and how well they relate to others.
Finding the right opportunity for your college soccer career is a complex matter. Karen understands that much of the success of a student-athlete is dependent on locating the right fit for all parties involved. Along with her own expertise, Karen has an extensive coaching network which she may call upon in working with you and your family to assist in the process. Karen will help you wade through the recruiting process. She will act as a process consultant while you decide what the right fit is for you.
