Athletes at risk

With the growing discipline problems plaguing the NFL, the focus on high school football players must change from on field exploits to character building. Integrity, discipline and responsibility must be the main focus across the board for the 2007 high school football season. 4SHOTSports

The athlete's do need direction from the coaches, but even more than the coaches, they need direction from their parents. Peer pressure is hard to avoid in high school, and coaches can only help so much in guiding their athletes.

I agree with Ryan completely. It should not be the coaches job to teach these athletes how to be good citizens. Sure they can lead them by example, (not allowing them to cuss, making them dress nice on game days, etc) but the job of the coaches is essentially to build these athletes to their maximum potential, send them to bible camp if they want more.

Most youngsters look up to the NFL as role models. When they see these juiced up pro football players they look at themselves. I know at my high school we had a lot of juicers. The NFL and its players need to have better attitudes and realize that they have a lot more important responsibilities than to just play football.
