Field athletes face scholarship obstacles

The athletes need to not only be strong in the field events, but also demonstrate to the coaches that they can be assets to them in other areas of the program, such as relays or some running events. This will help their chances of getting recruited.

Bottom line... if a coach wants you, whether you are a runner or a field athlete, he/she will do what it takes to get you to commit. Work to be the best... don't focus on the fact that it's rare to receive these scholarships.

Track and Field primarily is noticed for the track stars. Like football, the lineman don't get much attention even though they are the solid base to the offense. Hopefully field stars will gain the spotlight some time down the road.
