Making it easier

There’s nothing scarier than going off to college and being on your own for the first time, but students like women’s gymnast A.J. Mills are making it easier at Auburn University. Mills, a rising junior, is spending the summer as a counselor at Camp War Eagle, which is a summer orientation program for Auburn’s incoming freshmen. NCAA Sports

I wish I had this sort of orientation before going to college. Being involved in a sport is a big commitment and it would have been great to learn how to deal with other college stresses beforehand.

It's a good idea, but that's part of the fun of going away to college. Everyone is in the same position, not knowing anyone or even what to expect.

I agree with Angela. My freshman year was quite an experience and I wouldn't trade it in for anything.

I agree with Angela that kids going away to college need to experience everything without crutches. Kids have been doing it since the beginning of time; this isn't necessary.

It's definitely part of the experience. Kids shouldn't need to do this

I think it's a little too much, kids in the past got by without it, so it's not necessary.

Freshman year ranks as one of the craziest years of your life. If I could do it all over again, I probably would. But I agree with most that kids just need to experience it on their own.
